The legal principles of data protection can be found in the German Federal Data Protection Act (Landesdatenschutzgesetz BW) and the Telemedia Act (Telemediengesetz – TMG).

Zugriffsdaten/ Server-Logfiles

The provider (or his web space provider) collects data every time the website is accessed (so-called server log files). Access data includes the following:

  • Name of the website requested
  • File
  • Date and time of request
  • Volume of data transmitted
  • Notification of successful request
  • Type of browser and version
  • User’s operating system
  • Referrer URL (the site previously visited)
  • IP address and the requesting provider

The provider only uses the protocol data for statistical analysis purposes related to the operation, security and optimisation of the site. However, the provider reserves the right to verify the protocol data at a later date if there are legitimate reasons to suspect illegal use.

Contact

Upon contacting the provider (e.g. by means of the contact form or by email), the user’s details are stored for the purpose of processing the request and answering any subsequent questions that may arise.

Handling personal data

Personal data is information by which a person can be identified, i.e. information that can be traced back to a particular person. Such information includes the name, email address or phone number. Information about preferences, hobbies, memberships or websites viewed by a particular person is also classed as personal data.

The provider only collects, uses and discloses personal data where this is permitted by law or the user consents to data being collected.

Comment subscriptions

Users can sign up for notifications about subsequent comments. Every user receives a confirmation email in order to verify that the email address entered belongs to him/her. Users can unsubscribe to comment notifications at any time. The confirmation email explains how to do this.

Newsletter

Our newsletter contains information about us and the services we provide. Subscription is via the so-called double opt-in procedure:

If you wish to receive the newsletter, you will need to send us a valid email address along with information enabling us to check that you are the owner of the email address or that the owner consents to receiving the newsletter. No further data will be collected. This data will be used solely for the purpose of sending the newsletter and will not be forwarded to third parties.

When you subscribe to the newsletter, we save your IP address and the sign-up date. This data is only saved to serve as evidence in the event that a third party misuses an email address and subscribes to the newsletter without the knowledge of the person authorized to receive it.

Your consent to the data and email address being saved and used for sending the newsletter can be withdrawn at any time. You can withdraw consent via a link in the newsletter itself, via your profile or by notifying us via one of the aforementioned contact options.

Integration of third-party services and content

Third-party content, such as YouTube videos, maps from Google Maps, RSS feeds or graphics from other websites, may sometimes be integrated in this website. This is only possible if the providers of such content (hereinafter referred to as “Third-party Providers”) can see the users’ IP addresses. Without this information, they would not be able to send the content to the respective user’s browser. The IP address is therefore necessary for displaying content of this kind. We endeavor only to use content from providers who merely use the IP address for delivering the content. However, we have no control over Third-party Providers saving the IP address for statistical purposes, for example. If we become aware of this happening, we notify the users accordingly.

Registration process

The data entered during the registration process is used to allow use of the website. The users can be notified by email of information relating to the website or the registration procedure, such as changes to the scope of the website and technical problems. The data collected can be seen in the input mask while registering.

Piwik

This website uses Piwik, an open-source software allowing user access information to be analyzed. Piwik uses so-called “cookies", text files stored on the user’s computer that facilitate an analysis of how the website is used. The information generated by the cookie about the use of the website is stored on the provider’s server in Germany. The IP address is anonymized immediately after processing and prior to storage. Users can prevent cookies from being installed by means of the corresponding browser setting; however, the provider wishes to point out to users that in this case not all functions of the website will be fully usable.
You have the option of stating here whether you consent to a unique web analysis cookie being stored in your browser to enable the website operator to record and analyze a range of statistical data.
If you wish to deny consent, click on the following link to store the Piwik deactivation cookie in your browser.

Revocation, changes, rectifications and updates

On request, the user is entitled to receive information free of charge about the personal data saved about him/her. In addition, the user has the right to rectification of incorrect data and the blocking and deletion of his/her personal data unless required otherwise owing to a statutory retention period.
